Keeping strings in the groove. What agraffes do is space the strings as evenly as possible and provide the pressure point for the speaking length of the string. Steigerman Premium Upright pianos are fitted with solid brass agraffes to ensure proper and uniform string height and alignment. The addition of agraffes also reduce "noise" and increase the instrument's string life. Agraffes are generally found only in the most expensive Upright pianos.
