Hammers lend character to the piano's voice. The tone of a piano is very much dependent upon the hammers which strike the strings. If the hammer-felts are too hard, the piano will sound harsh and brassy, too soft and the power and color of the instrument is lost. Steigerman uses the finest imported felts for molding onto our hammers which are then individually "voiced" so as when played, you hear the perfect balance of power and color with warmth and richness.
