A rare addition to pianos in this price range, the tapered soundboard allows for the thicker portion of the board to be used under the bridge where the transfer of vibration occurs. It is at this point that all the subtle tones and color of the instrument can be picked up and amplified. The gradual tapering of the soundboard toward the edges allows for greater vibration of the board which results in greater power and sustain.
